Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQMS) had been available in India for some time and had also acquired the dubious distinction of often becoming white elephants-systems installed at great cost which fail to work. Hundreds of online air qualities monitoring systems all over India are lying useless because of paucity of spares or lack of competent servicing. Envirotech had changed that scenario from its FIRST Station setup for the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) at Hyderabad. It ensured that adequate and ready supplies of various spares parts and consumables like dust filter papers, calibration gases, scrubbers and scrubber materials etc, should be available instantly at the station itself. Envirotech feels that maintenance and operation needs continuous attention of dedicated and competent person and can not be left unattended.

Envirotech further feels that data generated by fte station should be regularly validated with manual monitoring. Data produced should be examined and interpreted daily. It should be Coi data! to Meteorological and Environmental condftors arc events & activities taking place in the vicinity of the station. Critical pollution periods must be reported daily. Only then the purpose of setting up taSD stations is likely to be fulfilled
